Looking back at the history of Korean design, the 1970s was when industrial design, including product design, graphic design, and fashion design, first made its name in our society; the 1980s when automobile design and CF design emerged; the 1990s when green design, digital media design, website design, ubiquitous design, and jewelry design began to become active; and the 2000s when designers expanded their influence based on their expertise in various fields that were unfamiliar at the time, including game design, interaction design, entertainment design, and smart wear design. Many of the experts in the field who bravely challenged the “creative industry,” which was the most barren and uncharted territory in Korean society in each era, are graduates of Kookmin University’s College of Design. This is the result of the progressive and challenging spirit that the College of Design has consistently maintained, and it can be said that the seeds of design education containing the DNA of innovation have borne fruit in the design field of our society.
