Welcome to the only French website on the organization and evolution of the Red Army during the Second World War. It aims to explain and detail the organization of the Red Army during the Second World War. It is intended, not to glorify, but as a tribute to the Soviet soldier, the one who endured the worst fighting, the one who was stuck between the certainty of dying from German (or Soviet!!) bullets and the hope of escaping, the one who saw his family deported to Germany or Siberia. No country suffered as much as the Soviet Union during the Second World War and this site wants to pay tribute to the bravery of the Soviet people without any political or ideological ulterior motive. This site aims to be as neutral and factual as possible. It is neither pro-Soviet nor anti-Soviet. It is clearly apolitical and is neither the defender nor the slayer of the Soviet system of the time. This site is based on several observations: – there is no French-language site devoted to the Red Army during the Second World War except perhaps http://barbarossa.pagesperso-orange.fr/oobr.htm devoted to the first day of the Barbarossa plan but which has not been updated since March 2004 and http://carnets-de-guerre-39-45.skyrock.com/ but which is not as precise as I would like. – there is no book in French devoted to the organization and developments of the Red Army. Only a few magazines have touched on the subject (sometimes in a remarkable way, however, I am thinking in particular of the special issue number 25 of the magazine Ligne de Front entitled Le Guide de l'Armée Rouge written by Vincent Bernard and published by éditions caraktere in August 2015) – the Red Army underwent a profound evolution and many upheavals during this period in terms of equipment, organization and combat doctrine.
