The mixed choir "Concordia" Linx is the oldest club in Linx and was founded on New Year's Day 1866 as "Concordia Hanau" Linx. The name Concordia (German: unity) was intended to express the solidarity of the singing comrades and the connection to their homeland. Church councillor Georg Stein pushed ahead with the founding of the club quickly and found a man in teacher Hiller who led the club as conductor, chairman, secretary and accountant all in one. Little is known about the time after the founding; it was not until 1881 that a festival to consecrate the flag was reported. During the First World War, the club's activities were suspended. In 1926, the club celebrated its 60th anniversary with the consecration of the flag. Due to economic hardship, the club left the Baden Singers' Association in 1928, but in 1933, under pressure from the National Socialist leadership, it had to rejoin the Ortenau-Oos Singers' Association. Headmaster Fritz Herlan, who took over the musical direction in 1933, ensured that the local song tradition was maintained for its own sake and not exploited for propaganda purposes. The Second World War brought a long break for the club, and after the end of the war the club was dissolved by order of the Allied Control Commission. On August 4, 1946, the club was able to be revived after an examination by the French military government. The conductor was Dr. Fritz Baas, then director of the Linx church choir. It began with 20 singers and by 1950, under the direction of conductor Erwin Berning, the choir had 47 active and 120 passive members. Years followed with many changes of conductor, but in 1966 the club celebrated its 100th anniversary with conductor Werner Kopf, who led the choir very successfully. When teacher Kopf was transferred, Bartholomäus Neumeyer took over the choir, but was unable to prevent fewer and fewer men being willing to sing. "Concordia" becomes a mixed choir The board of directors at the time, with its chairman Karl Gabriel, decided to convert the club into a mixed choir. There were many women who enjoyed singing in the church choir, and so in 1968 the club became the men's choir with mixed choir "Concordia" Linx. In 1973 Erich Kreß became chairman and played a major role in building up the choir. There were also some passionate theater actors in the ranks of the club who still enjoy being on stage today and have staged a number of entertaining theater evenings.
